Stay

Visiondivision proposes a temporary Dance Theatre in Stockholm

The Brief: The Modern Dance Theatre (MDT) has to move out from their premises during a reconstruction.
The task: to propose a temporary stage while waiting for the building process to be finished.

Five reasons for staying:
1. Someone else will do most of your work for free so it's cheap.
2. will experience the birth of your new darling dance theatre.
3. You will have access to the coolest tools.
4. The roughness allows you to have a great flexibility.
5. The location remains, and from a marketing point of view that is an advantage.

Time: The schedule for the reconstruction of MDT will be a 9 to 5 weekday schedule.

The MDT schedule is based on evening performance so the construction site is actually free for performance when needed. To do preparations for a performance during that short amount of time can however be difficult. .

During the different stages of reconstruction there are laps in time, these lapses are the times for making dance events.

Rolling Culture

Visiondivision proposes a rolling culture house in the Mexican jungle

Agua dulce, a small village in southern mexico, wants to improve their village with new projects. We proposed a roof structure that gives shade to public activities, and that can be folded into a ball to be shared with nearby villages that lacks public spaces too.

The balls can vary in size and "filling" between the bamboo poles.
plants that grows rapidly and all-year round in this tropical climate, cut up bamboo sections that forms a kind of a hama bead around the ball, or without a filling just to mark a place for an
activity.

The transformable ball is constructed so you can have a completely free floor plan,
The ball can be constructed by locals and its also made of bamboo that grows in the region

With shade and light that can be attached to the bamboo joints, activities and energy will wake the slumbering village and make it a more attractive place to live.

fiestas, town meetings, plant exhibitions, markets, school graduations, concerts, basket, football, salsa classes, temporary cinema, crocodile wrestling, you name it.

The village is situated next to the great Tonala river and this makes it possible to transport the balls on the water to the other villages nearby that also lies next to the river. This transportation system could be an event in itself and attract a great deal of tourism.

And it gives the surrounding villages a sense of community and will strengthen their identity.

Mirror woods

We were hired by the Swedish architectural firm "Tema" to cooperate with them in an invited competition for a housing project in Örnsköldsvik, the Swedish Mecca of Ice Hockey.
The prices on apartments in northern Sweden are fairly low since there are a lot of available empty houses in that region, so the proposal needed to be cost efficient. While the floor plan were designed as efficient and simple as possible with cheap extravaganzas such as sight lines, zoning and so on, we put our efforts on making something unique with the outdoor spaces. Since the houses are laid out pointing towards the sea, they create a sloping space towards the ocean which in this case where filled with birch trees. We tried to make a façade that mimic the aesthetics of the birch trunk to get a building that corresponded with its surrounding environment. We put highly reflective and slightly tilted steel sheets between the windows, making a façade that mimic the pattern of a birch trunk and at the same time reflected the birch trees in the voids between the buildings. The result became quit poetic we must say.

+46

Brief: To propose an expansion of the city centre of the Stockholm suburb Nacka,

Concept: When mapping out the major characteristics of Nacka city centre and its surrounding areas a discovery is made, all major characteristics seems to be situated on the level of + 46 and + 50. Defining that level as the new Centrum of Nacka allowed us to step away from the definition of the city centre as a commercial area and instead put the focus on the true qualities of the site. The proposal became a flat urban surface through the landscape of the Nacka emphasising its diversity.

Big Combo

The Netherlands is a densely populated country, with only a small part of the original nature left untouched. New developments are erected in the outskirts of the cities and slowly expands on the expense of the nature due to the high land value in the city cores. How can we slow the progress of this exploration of new land and improve density and sustain ecological and economical interests? One aspect would be to improve the efficiency of how we use our built space.Normally a house is only used 50% of the day, why not make that 100%?

So, lets share our built space more efficently, and make it more dense in order to have a more active neighbourhood around the clock as well. A residential unit that can partly be transformed into office space during daytime, shops that can be turned into hostels in nighttime and so on.

A compact building with generous semipublic spaces throughout the house, two big courtyards with different themes, one has a giant pool that also is open to the public, the other has a wild wetland garden that also functions as the new districts water system cleaner. In the core of the house a channel has been dugged out and this space functions as a bustling commercial centre covered in glimmering gold paint, consisting of small modules that can be removed/added with cranes from the ceiling. You can add whatever you want as long as you have an object that has a size smaller than the given plot you rent.

Enjoy the immense pool surrounded by a silver shimmering facade towards the courtyard that reflects down light. A great variety of semi public gardens in the building makes interesting relaxation spots and adds transparency to the compact building. In the pool floats fake islands if you have to take a rest from all the swimming. At wintertime the pool is drained and sport activities can take place.

The harbour/commercial centre will be the magnet in the new development that will take place in this area.
The enormous potential of the commercial variety and the vast gold covered space inside will certainly
attract its crowd. It will also enhance the identity of Amsterdam as a city with a special relation to its water
and will also give a new interesting approach to the harbour district.
A feeling of a bustling harbour market with food from around the world, tattoo parlours, bars, temporary
events, everything imaginable. The whole room could be used for bigger events as well.

One of the courtyards mix pleasure with purpose,
a designed wetland garden that attracts birdlife and also cleans the water in the neighbourhood.
A nice place to stroll around to observe frogs, owls and mushrooms perhaps.

Noble Savage

One of visiondivision's early masterpieces, Noble Savage.
Entry for EASA05, but the jury never received it because their server was full.
Too bad.

Bergün, an idyllic village in the swizz alps, has a famous hotel, the kurhaus

That wanted to erect a pavillion on top of the old foundations of a former garden pavillion

The old structure had an icecellar, that now is revealed by removal of the roof

The pavillion is then divided into two parts by a rotating wall

The North side of the wall is made by a self luminant tactile rubber coating, facing a cool room with a floor covered with opaque white glass stones. The floor has floor heating to make the stones warm as a nice contrast to the coolness.

The other half consists of a pool that is facing south and a spectacular mountain backdrop. This side of the wall is covered with roses and basks in the southern sun.

The flower wall is now in a horizontal position, and is no longer dividing the room.Instead it has become a magnificent roof of roses. The lights inside the wall structure makes the glass stones change into a reddish color.

The self luminant roof is now glowing i the dark
